In the thick, humid air of a London summer, something quietly groundbreaking was taking shape behind the scenes of what appeared to be a modest short film. Big Man, directed by Oscar-winner Aneil Karia and featuring the iconic Stormzy, wasn’t just another piece in Apple’s renowned “Shot on iPhone” series; it was a bold creative statement. Captured entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro, the film challenged the divide between high-end cinematic production and compact mobile filmmaking.

Stormzy, real name Michael Omari Owuo Jr. portrays Tenzman, a former rap star who’s faded into obscurity. When two spirited teenagers, Klevis and Tyrell, unexpectedly crash into his solitary world, they awaken a spark he thought he had lost his creative fire, emotional honesty, and the sense that his story might not be over after all. Big Man is a warm, sincere tale of second chances and youthful courage, seamlessly blending subtle humor with powerful emotional undertones.

Behind the Lens: Beastgrip Gear in Action

Bringing the emotional depth of Big Man to life took more than just an iPhone. While the entire film was shot on the iPhone 16 Pro, it was powered by a pro-level rig built around Beastgrip gear.

The iPhone was mounted in our Beastcage, along with the all-new BeastMod Cage—a rugged upgrade that adds extra mounting points, better stability, and improved handling for serious filmmaking setups. If you look closely at the behind-the-scenes footage, you’ll spot Beastgrip’s Pro Series 0.75X Wide-Angle and 1.7X Telephoto lenses. These let the filmmakers open up or tighten the frame, shaping the story’s look with flexibility you won’t get from a stock lens.

And for that rich, cinematic depth of field? That’s where our new DOF Adapter Фoton came in. It was used throughout the film to attach professional PL mount cinema lenses, bringing a whole new visual dimension to the iPhone’s sensor.

Big Man proves that you don’t need massive movie studio gear to tell a story that hits just as hard. With the right tools—like the BeastMod Cage, our Pro Series lenses, and the DOF Photon Adapter—the iPhone 16 Pro transforms into a true filmmaking machine. It gives creators the freedom to travel light, move fast, and shoot with serious style, all while reaching production quality once thought impossible on a smartphone.

Big Man premiered today, June 18, 2025, on YouTube. Go give it a watch and see what’s possible when top-tier gear meets bold creative vision.
