The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens expands the camera’s field of view by reducing the effective focal length by approximately 25%, allowing more of the scene to fit into the frame compared to the native camera lens.
For example, when used on the main 24mm wide camera of modern iPhones, the 0.75X lens provides an effective focal length of approximately 18mm equivalent. This allows creators to capture wider shots while continuing to use the smartphone’s primary camera, which typically offers the best sensor, optics, and overall image quality.
In addition to expanding the field of view, the lens also reduces the minimum focusing distance of the main wide camera to just a few centimeters. This enables extreme close-up shots with a wide perspective, creating unique compositions with pronounced subject emphasis and shallow depth of field for specific artistic and creative looks that are not possible with the native camera alone.
How does the 0.75X wide angle lens affect field of view and perspective?
The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens increases the camera’s field of view, allowing more of the scene to be captured horizontally and vertically compared to the native lens. This creates a wider, more immersive perspective.
By expanding the field of view optically, the lens emphasizes spatial depth and foreground-to-background relationships, making scenes feel more open and dynamic.
Why use the 0.75X wide angle lens if smartphones already have ultra-wide cameras?
While most smartphones include built-in ultra-wide cameras, these cameras typically use much smaller sensors and slower apertures compared to the main wide camera. As a result, ultra-wide cameras often deliver lower image quality, reduced dynamic range, and weaker low-light performance, especially in high-contrast scenes.
The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens allows creators to capture wider shots while continuing to use the smartphone’s main camera, which provides the best sensor, optics, and image processing. When combined with a high-quality wide-angle conversion lens, the main camera delivers cleaner images, better dynamic range, and more consistent results, particularly in challenging lighting conditions.
This approach makes it possible to achieve wide-angle perspectives without sacrificing image quality, making the lens a practical choice for creators who prioritize detail, color accuracy, and performance in both bright and low-light environments.
Which smartphone cameras work best with the 0.75X wide angle lens?
The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens works best when aligned with the main (wide) camera on modern smartphones. The main camera typically features the largest sensor, best optics, and highest overall image quality, making it the ideal base for a wide-angle conversion lens.
Using the lens on the main camera allows creators to achieve a wider field of view while maintaining superior dynamic range, color accuracy, and low-light performance compared to built-in ultra-wide cameras. Optimal results are achieved with proper mounting and alignment using a compatible Beastgrip Pro universal rig or Beastcage for iPhone.
What is the 0.75X wide angle lens best used for?
The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens is best used in situations where capturing a wider field of view is important while maintaining high image quality from the smartphone’s main camera. It is well suited for landscapes, architecture, interior shots, travel and documentary filmmaking, group shots, environmental portraits, automotive photography and video such as car exteriors, interiors, and rolling shots, as well as sports and action scenes where a wider perspective helps capture both movement and context.
By expanding the field of view optically, the lens allows creators to capture dynamic wide compositions without switching to lower-quality ultra-wide cameras, preserving clean detail, strong dynamic range, and reliable performance in both bright and low-light conditions.
Does adding a wide angle conversion lens affect optical quality or image character?
Any optical system that adds additional glass elements into the light path can introduce optical characteristics such as flare, minor aberrations, or subtle rendering differences. This is a normal and expected part of optical design and applies to all lenses, including those used on professional cameras.
High-quality wide-angle conversion lenses like the Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens are engineered to maintain excellent color accuracy, contrast, and resolution, preserving fine detail while expanding the field of view. In addition to capturing wider scenes, the lens introduces natural perspective expansion, depth emphasis, and lens flares that help differentiate the image from the typical smartphone camera look without compromising overall image quality.
External lenses are a creative tool, just like lenses used on traditional cameras. The purpose is not only to capture more of the scene, but also to add optical character and creative control that enhance the final image while maintaining clean detail, accurate color reproduction, and strong overall performance.
Will the 0.75X wide angle lens cause vignetting or distortion?
When properly mounted and aligned using a compatible Beastgrip Pro universal rig or Beastcage for iPhone, the Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens produces no visible vignetting and no distortion under normal shooting conditions.
When used on smartphones with main cameras wider than 24mm equivalent, slight vignetting may occur when filters are used, depending on filter size, thickness, and stacking. Using larger-diameter filters, such as 77mm filters, along with proper alignment, helps minimize or eliminate this effect. In many cases, in-camera image stabilization or digital stabilization introduces a small crop that further reduces any visible edge darkening.
The lens is designed to maintain straight lines with no barrel distortion, preserving natural geometry across the frame. This allows architectural lines, horizons, and vertical elements to remain straight while providing a wider field of view.
Can I attach filters to the 0.75X wide angle lens?
Yes. The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens features a built-in 62mm front filter mount and includes a 77mm step-up adapter ring, allowing it to be used with standard 62mm filters as well as 77mm Beastgrip filters.
Filters such as ND filters, polarizers, and diffusion filters including Black Mist can be used for both photo and video applications. For wide-angle use, 77mm filters are recommended, as the larger filter diameter helps reduce the chance of vignetting, especially when using thicker filters or stacking multiple filters. Proper mounting and alignment help maintain optimal optical performance.
Is the 0.75X wide angle lens suitable for both photo and video?
Yes. The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens is designed for use in both photography and video applications, delivering consistent optical performance across a wide range of shooting scenarios.
For video, the lens is well suited for handheld shooting, action scenes, travel footage, and cinematic wide shots where capturing more of the environment adds context and visual impact. For photography, it works well for landscapes, architecture, automotive shots, group photos, and dynamic compositions that benefit from a wider perspective.
As with other external lenses, using a third-party camera app that allows manual camera selection and control is recommended on some devices to ensure consistent alignment and predictable results during both photo and video capture.
Can I use the native camera app with external lenses, or do I need a third-party app?
The Beastgrip 0.75X Wide Angle Lens can be used with both the native camera app and third-party camera apps. However, the recommended approach depends on the device and the level of control needed.
On iPhone, the native Camera app may automatically switch between cameras depending on lighting conditions, zoom level, or shooting mode. For consistent results, using a third-party camera app that allows manual camera selection and control is recommended.
On many Android devices, the native camera app includes a Pro or Manual mode that allows users to manually select and control individual cameras. When such controls are available, the native camera app can work well with external lenses. The choice between native and third-party apps on Android depends on the specific device and user preference.

Test frame taken from a Sony RX0 ii 4k video camera (fixed 24mm equivalent f4.0 lens) mounted in a cage that supports 17mm threaded accessories is very sharp edge to edge. Has minimal distortion and very little bit of chromatic aberration at edge of frame. I shoot rock concerts and needed a small camera I could mount on a keyboard an capture the performers hands and see his face while playing.
Liking what I'm seeing so far. I'm using the 0.75x Beastgrip wide angle lens with a Xiaomi 15 Ultra main camera. The first pic is without the Beastgrip (the duck plushies are right at the edges). The next pic is with the Beastgrip 0.75x from the exact same location (the duck plushies are significantly further in from the edges). Both pics were shot in full frame, and there is a very slight vignette with the Beastgrip 0.75x, but still totally acceptable. I didn't notice any change in color or loss of sharpness, even at the edges.
I only see the slight vignette when shooting fuul frame photo/video. This may be due to the focal length of the Xiaomi main camera being slightly wider than an iPhone (23mm vs. 24mm for iPhone). I had to use a 17 mm to 37mm step up ring to attach the Beastgrip to my phone which may have been another contributing factor. In any case, I can easily edit the vignette out. If editing in post isn't your thing, a very slight zoom (1.1x) completely eliminates the vignette (so does shooting in 16:9, which is the vast majority of my photos).
Overall, I find the quality of the Beastgrip 0.75x wide angle lens excellent.
The Experience was great. The wide angle lens was just enough to not be over dramatic and had agent full body in the shot.
I did experience a green glow ring in extreme dark/light conditions at a certain angle.
Assistance for this was handled quickly and is not an issue.
would love to have vertical adapter built in to handle however it's an available part for a small fee.
Thank you.

I have loved both the 0.75 wide and 1.75 tele lenses from Beastgrip during my first few times using it along with my Beastcage for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It's a lot easier to set up than I originally anticipated and with a little practice using the Beastcam app I can't wait to see what great videos and still shots I can add to my video podcast. Awesome gear!
Beastgrip cage and lenses and accessories has been a great find. Beastgrip equipment has saved me thousands of dollars in not having to upgrade my Nikon camera equipment and lenses to a newer model, although I love my Nikon setup it allows me to travel without packing an extra bag, and I travel a lot ..
Wow! So solid! When I opened the packet, I couldn’t believe the build quality on this thing! Love how it all feels strong and secure.
The lens is clear, attaches nicely.
All over - a great buy!
Love the Grip, the wide angle adapter lens doesn’t work on a iPhone 14 when the phone is on video .5
So you lose the ability to go wider, also the iPhone 14 actually provides a wider image the the actual wide angle adapter, I recommend the Grip handle NOT the wide angle adapter lens.. stick to your iPhone’s widest settings on video mode..!
Superb wide angle Beastgrip x Kenko Pro Series what can I say excellent quality as usual with Beastgrip so I ordered the Beastgrip DOF Adapter MK3 from them normally I should receive it at the beginning of March 2024 and I can confirm that Beastgrip is great material with top quality.
Great lens but then again I have all of them from BG.
I have all very high end cannon R5, R6 and fuji xt4 but I dig playing with this, fun light and I don’t have to carry 25 pound of glass.
Definitely the best do not hesitate to have this in your arsenal of mobile gear ty Beastgrip once again top notch in wide conversion lens for the 14 pro max/pro
Just received this not sure how it would shoot on the Smallrig for the 14 ProMax & I immediately jumped back online an purchased the 1.7 tele lens…. I live in Bermuda so it’s hard to make judgement calls just seeing things over the internet.
The device is genius. My only critique is that it is catered to landscape filming as opposed to portrait. The additional piece, that is available separately, needed to film in portrait wasn’t suggested or offered with the beast grip rig. So I’m currently waiting on that to arrive.
Amayzing to shoot with this kenko wide lens i was able to get more into the shot with my iphone 13 pro max!! Deffinitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star lens for me!! Waiting to get the mk2 dof adapter now..
I like it 👌 Really like that it’s threaded so I can put filters to the lens. I returned the Beastgrip Fisheye Lens with Macro cuz it’s not threaded, just to note. Really happy with this lens and the 2X when used with the Beastcage.
I absolutely love the Beastgrip cage for my iPhone 13 pro max. With the wide angle lens I am able to capture more scenery in my photos & videos. I can't wait to purchase more Beastgrip products & use their products for my iPhone Filmmaking Videos.
Everything about this equipment is first rate from the thought that went into the layout of these tools through the machining that created them. The form fit and function is excellent. In addition the Pro Series Kenko 0.75x Wide Angle Conversion Lens is a tack sharp fine example of Japanese optics. Ive often thought that these iPhones are a fantastic marriage of computer and camera and now with this BeastGrip equipment which also includes their professional app we now have the ability to better utilise the smartphones photographic and video capabilities. Yeah, I'm a happy camper.
Awesome rig! No more fumbling with the phone to get it right. The Beast Camera App is super helpful. Would recommend to anyone who needs a little help to get a better picture, and much easier.
The sharpness is amazing and the clarity and colors works beautifully together to the point that I have to do the minimum editing on the photos before I use them for publishing as part of real estate property listings
We have been using Beastgrip's products for the past two years to shoot inventory photos and videos at car dealerships. We love the quality and flexibility of their product as it enables us to add additional accessories (e.g. camera handles, lights, etc.). They have been a great company to work with.
So I have the cage for iphone 12 and the 0,75 wide angle pro. Bought a polaroid variable ND filter with it.
Now the cage seems awesome and feels awesome and so is the lens. The cage is heave so you will loose in that way the idea of that it’s an iphone, it’s not that you will use it for daily life and think I might go filming. You will only use this cage for the moment that you will go filming and when you will not use your iphone for other purposes.
The lens, i have not really, really tested it out, only in house to see how it works etc. For now I don’t get it. On the iphone 12 is an awsome 0,5 lens. The cool thing is that you can also switch easy between lenses, wide shot, close shot, medium all in in one hand, you just have to push the button. With the cage and lens attached on it you will loose these three lenses and only have the option for one and it’s even less wide, and because of the extra lens also less light capable, less light gets in your camera. So besides that it looks and feels cool I wonder if it really is meaningfull, if someone can explain me, please do!
I also don’t understand the use of ND on an iphone, allthough I have one from polaroid, and maybe the variable ND is the problem. Normally you use ND for example when you go from interior to exterior, because of the sun or just another “light” environment. But iphone adjust this it self automatically, it is through that you can fix this but then you can’t though the screen anymore, so I wonder what is the point of ND on an Iphone besides to use it in one environment - but I’m also a rookie on this part.
I'm all in on iPhonography, and while the iPhones 12 Pro Max has three built in lenses, only the wide angle lens sensor is now 47% larger and offers on-image stabilization. That's where Beastgrip comes in. I can throw on their ultra-wide (image shown) and 3X tele lenses all while using the best sensor on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. They are really phenomenal lenses for the price, and really everything that I've purchased from Beastgrip has been top quality. Keep it up!
This is the world's best smartphone wide lens.
It is fully compatible with the BeastGrip Pro that I purchased together.
It also has better quality than Moment and Sirui's wide lens.
The images are much more crisp and clean than with the phone camera alone.
I spend an afternoon combining the lens with the different modes on the camera.
The one I uploaded was the 0.75X wide conversion lens with the macro function on my phone, a Samsung Galaxy A71. I am very happy with the resulting photo.
I actually tried it with the panoramic function and while there was some artifact, black rounded ends at each end of the photo, but it did give me more than 360 deg. Interesting.
I am very happy with the results so far and look forward to further experimentation with this lens.
This was literally my first day shooting with the BeastGrip Pro, armed with only the additional Kenko 0.75x ProSeries lens. I set out to the top of a nearby canyon for a brisk sunday drive and some photos of my vehicle as an attempt to validate the proof of concept for my new channel, as well as give the BeastGrip a proper test at a local Cars and Coffee event taking place below the canyon. I legitimately had a few of the showgoers approach me to inquire about your rig. I was thoroughly impressed with my S10+ paired with your tools as well as the FiLMiC Pro and Firstlight apps. I'm still learning my way around everything but this photo has not been altered outside of being uploaded to dropbox and then re-downloaded. Shout out to Mrwhosetheboss for turning me on to your product and turning me into a brand advocate. Also, thank you for creating a tool that allows me to give my vision an outlet, while balancing quality with value for money. I noticed myself naturally behaving as if I was holding a DSLR, and couldn't be more excited to keep shooting. I then rushed home and snagged an old DOF V1 (I'll update when I can haha) adapter off of ebay, and a DSLR gimbal to see how far I can really go with this. That was just day 1, wish I could add more photos!
High quality, exactly as described. The lens is very well crafted and gives definition in every pixel at the frame. And the Beastgrip has no competition in market!
