Description

Take ultra-wide to the extreme with the Beastgrip Pro Series Circular Fisheye Lens.

Designed for the latest main wide cameras on iPhone, Samsung Galaxy phones, and other smartphones, this lens captures an incredible 180°+ field of view in a circular image, creating a surreal perspective that goes far beyond conventional wide-angle and fisheye lenses.

When shooting photos or open-gate videos, the complete circular image is visible within the frame, revealing an incredibly wide view in every direction. When shooting standard 16:9 video, the image circle extends beyond the top and bottom of the frame, creating a cropped circular fisheye look while maintaining its extreme field of view.

The unmistakable character of a circular fisheye transforms everyday scenes into something completely different. Strong barrel distortion, dramatically curved lines, exaggerated depth, and an unreal sense of space make it a unique creative tool for both photography and filmmaking. Use it for action sports, POV shots, landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, automotive shots, music videos, experimental filmmaking, or simply to capture perspectives that aren't possible with a conventional smartphone lens.

And it doesn’t have to stay circular. Zoom in approximately 1.6X in-camera, and the image expands to cover the full frame, giving you a more traditional full-frame fisheye look while retaining an exceptionally wide perspective. It’s essentially two distinct fisheye looks from a single lens.

Engineered for exceptional image quality across the image circle, the Pro Series Circular Fisheye Lens uses high-quality, multi-layer coated optical glass for excellent clarity, contrast, and color. Its precision-machined aluminum housing provides a durable, professional build made for everyday production use.

The standard M37 × 0.75 threaded mount integrates directly with the Beastgrip Pro universal rig and compatible Beastcage systems for iPhone and Samsung Galaxy.

Attention: Seriously, It’s That Wide.

With a 180°+ field of view, this lens sees everything in front of it, and even a little behind it. When shooting with the Beastgrip Pro, parts of the rig, the handles, or even your fingers can end up in the frame. The same goes for Beastcage setups with side-mounted handles or accessories. Keep your setup minimal and watch your hand placement for a clean circular image, or embrace it and make it part of the shot.

FAQs

What does a circular fisheye lens do?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens captures an extremely wide 180°+ field of view and creates a distinctive circular image within the frame. It produces classic fisheye distortion and an immersive, exaggerated perspective, making it ideal for creative photography and video, action sports, landscapes, architecture, POV shots, and other unique wide-angle compositions.

What field of view does the Circular Fisheye Lens provide?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens provides an extreme 180°+ field of view, capturing a much wider perspective than a smartphone’s built-in ultra-wide camera. It lets you fit dramatically more of the surrounding scene into the frame while maintaining the distinctive circular fisheye look.

Why does the Circular Fisheye Lens create a circular image?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens captures an extremely wide field of view and projects the entire image circle onto the smartphone camera sensor. Unlike a full-frame fisheye, the image does not fill the entire rectangular frame, leaving the characteristic dark area around the circular image. This creates the distinctive circular fisheye look and preserves the lens’s ultra-wide perspective.

What is the difference between a circular fisheye and a full-frame fisheye lens?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens creates a complete circular image within the frame and provides an extreme 180°+ field of view. A full-frame fisheye lens fills the entire rectangular image while still producing the characteristic curved distortion and ultra-wide perspective. The circular fisheye is ideal for more dramatic and creative effects, while a full-frame fisheye provides a more traditional fisheye look that uses the entire frame.

Which smartphone camera should I use with the Circular Fisheye Lens?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens is designed to be used with your smartphone’s main wide camera for the best image quality and proper fisheye effect.

Why use a fisheye lens instead of the smartphone’s built-in ultra-wide camera?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens is a creative choice that delivers a unique look, distinctive fisheye character, and dramatic perspective that a smartphone’s built-in ultra-wide camera cannot reproduce. Its extreme field of view, curved distortion, and circular image create a completely different visual experience that cannot be achieved with a conventional wide-angle or ultra-wide lens.

Can I use the Circular Fisheye Lens for both photos and videos?

Yes. The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens can be used for both photography and video, giving you the same distinctive fisheye character and ultra-wide perspective in either format. It’s a versatile creative tool for everything from unique photos and POV shots to action, travel, landscape, and experimental video.

Why is the circular image cropped when shooting 16:9 video?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens produces a full circular image, but the 16:9 video aspect ratio uses a wider, shorter frame. As a result, the top and bottom of the image circle extend outside the recorded area and are cropped.

How can I capture the complete circular fisheye image?

For video, use 4:3 open-gate recording, if available on your device, to preserve the full image circle. For photography, shoot in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Can I zoom in to make the circular fisheye image fill more of the frame?

Yes. The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens gives you two creative looks in one lens. Use the full image circle for the classic circular fisheye effect, or take advantage of lossless zoom on compatible smartphones and zoom to approximately 1.6× to fill the frame for a full-frame fisheye look while maintaining an extremely wide perspective

Which smartphones are compatible with the Circular Fisheye Lens?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens is compatible with a wide range of iPhone and Android smartphones when used with a compatible Beastgrip Pro rig or Beastcage. It features an M37 × 0.75 threaded mount and is designed to align with the smartphone’s main camera for optimal image quality and the intended circular fisheye effect.

What is the Circular Fisheye Lens best used for?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens is ideal for creative photography and filmmaking where you want a bold, unconventional perspective. Its extreme field of view and distinctive fisheye character work especially well for action sports, POV shots, travel, landscapes, architecture, music videos, experimental filmmaking, and other shots where a unique visual style is part of the story.

Do I need a third-party camera app to use the Circular Fisheye Lens?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens works with your smartphone’s native camera app. For video, a third-party camera app is recommended if the native app does not allow you to turn off image stabilization. Third-party apps also provide additional manual controls and recording options, including 4:3 open-gate video on compatible devices.

Should I use image stabilization with the Circular Fisheye Lens?

For video, we recommend turning off digital image stabilization when using the Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens. Digital stabilization can introduce unwanted warping and shifting, which is especially noticeable with the circular image. For the cleanest and most consistent fisheye look, shoot with stabilization turned off.

Will the Beastgrip Pro or Beastcage appear in the image?

Because of the extreme 180°+ field of view of the Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens, parts of the rig, handles, or even your fingers may appear near the edges of the image. For the cleanest circular fisheye look, we recommend keeping your setup minimal and your hands clear of the lens’s field of view.

Can I attach filters to the Circular Fisheye Lens?

No. The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens does not have a front filter mount due to its extremely wide field of view and optical design. Standard screw-on filters are not compatible with this lens.

Does the Circular Fisheye Lens produce lens flare?

Yes. Like any ultra-wide lens, the Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens can produce lens flare when bright light sources are in or near the frame. These flares can add unique character and become part of the creative fisheye look, or they can be minimized by adjusting your shooting angle when a cleaner image is preferred.

Does the Circular Fisheye Lens have distortion?

Yes. Distortion is an intentional part of the Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens design and what gives fisheye images their distinctive character. Straight lines curve more dramatically toward the edges, creating the immersive, exaggerated perspective that makes the fisheye look unique.

How close can I focus with the Circular Fisheye Lens?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens can focus extremely close, just a few millimeters from the subject. This lets you create dramatic close-up perspectives with an exaggerated foreground while still capturing the surrounding environment in the frame.

What lens mount does the Circular Fisheye Lens use?

The Beastgrip Circular Fisheye Lens features an M37 × 0.75 threaded mount, making it compatible with the Beastgrip Pro and supported Beastcage setups equipped with an M37 lens mount.
