Check out our latest video below for test footage and a quick overview of the iPhone 11's compatibility with the following gear:

  • Beastgrip Pro
  • Beastclamp
  • Beastcage
  • Pro Series 0.75X Wide Angle Lens
  • Pro Series 3X Telephoto Lens
  • Pro Series 1.33X Anamorphic Lens
  • DOF Adapter MK2

And the upcoming Beastgrip Pro Lens Mount Upgrade!

Beastgrip Pro

  • All three iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max models fit
  • All three back cameras align with the lens mount
  • We recommend using the primary 26mm camera with your DOF Adapter MK2 or lenses for the best results (it has the best sensor out of the three)

The 52mm Telephoto camera can also be used with lenses (results may vary), but the 13mm Ultra-Wide camera is not compatible.

Pro Series 0.75X Wide Angle Lens

Works perfectly with the Beastgrip Pro and new iPhones

Pro Series 3X Telephoto Lens

  • Works good (will be improved with the upcoming lens mount upgrade, see below)
  • Has slight vignetting and/or softness towards the edges of the frame
    • The vignetting can easily be fixed with a subtle zoom of about 1.2X

Note: the softness is most visible when shooting at mid-range to infinity focus. This lens still has a beautiful separation between the subject in focus and the background on close up shots, however.

Pro Series 1.33X Anamorphic Lens

  • Works great
  • Has slight vignetting towards the edges of the frame (will also be improved with upcoming lens mount upgrade)
    • The vignetting can easily be fixed with a subtle zoom of about 1.2X as well
Sold out

DOF Adapter MK2

Works perfectly
Note: There is still a small amount of zoom required to remove the slight vignetting/visible focusing screen edges towards the edges, but no more than with any other phone.

September 17, 2019

One week ago, on Tuesday, September 10th, Apple unveiled the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Each new model comes with a new camera layout and the question is: how it will affect the compatibility/performance with our gear.

We are still waiting for all three iPhones to arrive this Friday (09/20) so we can test everything, however, we already have enough specs and data available to make few predictions.

Let's take a look at the camera setup first:

iPhone 11

- Dual back camera layout

- Wide: 12MP, 26mm (EFL), f1.8

- Ultra-wide: 12MP, 13mm (EFL), f2.4

iPhone 11 Pro & iPhone 11 Pro Max

- Tripple back camera layout

- Wide: 12MP, 26mm (EFL), f1.8

- Tele: 12MP, 52mm (EFL) f2.0

- Ultra-wide: 12MP, 13mm (EFL), f2.4

Both Wide and Tele cameras have the same specs on paper as previous iPhone XS models. The obvious difference is in the new Ultra-Wide camera. With 13mm EFL, the field of view is very wide, so there is no option to add any lens on top of it and get any good results without visible vignetting. There is still a possibility to utilize filters with this camera, but we have to wait till we test it...

With Wide (26mm EFL) and Tele (52mm EFL) cameras, we expect very similar performance with all our lenses as on iPhone XS. However, the camera layout has a very significant effect on compatibility and fit with our rigs, plus camera alignment with the lens mount and the external lens is very critical to achieve the best possible optical performance.

Beastcage

We are working on three new cages for each new iPhone. iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max are almost identical in size to iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max respectively. However, all new camera layout requires a completely new design. And with a new ultra-wide camera, there are even more challenges to come up with a complete solution to utilize all camera features at its full potential. We have a few innovative ideas we will be implementing in the next line of the Beastcage (11) and we are super excited to share with everyone as soon as we will have working prototypes!

Beastgrip Pro

Each of the new iPhone 11 will definitely fit into the Beastgrip Pro. However, we still have to test our lenses with the main iPhone 11 camera to find out if we have to optimize the lens mount for the best possible fit and performance.

Based on our experience, we are sure that our Pro Series 0.75X Wide Angle Lens will deliver excellent results with the existing lens mount on the Beatsgrip Pro. The DOF MK2 Adapter and Pro Series 1.33X Anamorphic Lens should work great as well, however, most likely there will be a slightly more vignetting and will require a bit of digital zoom (around 1.2x) to eliminate it. The optimal performance of our Pro Series 3X Telephoto Lens is very sensitive to any misalignment at all three axes. And we can definitely tell, with the new square-shaped camera bump, there will be a slightly larger distance from the camera to the lens attached. This will not only cause a vignetting but also may affect the sharpness of the lens toward the middle-edges of the frame.

Once again, we will be testing every lens and will update this blog with the results, please stay tuned.

If there will be a need to change the lens mount design on the Beastgrip Pro to achieve the optimal performance with all new iPhones, we will have the upgrade kit available for our existing customers. And we will make sure that all Beastgrip Pro units will continue to perform at their best with all iPhones and other smartphones.

Beastclamp

Our Beastclamp and Beastclamp Rig are fully compatible with all new iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max with our without a protective case.

We are super excited about the new iPhone 11 and can't wait to see what Apple has to offer with their new camera setups in both photo and video.

Stay tuned for more updates!
